Visual field refers to the entire area that can be seen when the eye is directed forward including that which is seen with peripheral vision. Many diseases can adversely affect the visual field including glaucoma, stroke, high blood pressure, diabeties, multiple sclerosis and over activity of the thyroid gland.

The visual field can be tested to measure the extent and distribution of the field of vision. During this test, our technicians will use computerized instruments to map out your visual field. Your pupils will not be dilated for this test. This test takes approximately 10-20 minutes per eye. An Automated Visual Field Test is also referred to as "Perimetry."

If you have a doubt about your vision, ask for emergency attention, because delay of this can lead to permanent damages. Some neurological cases (Brain tumor, pituitary adenomas) undue delay can bring the patient to a life threatening situation.
